White House: G7 disagrees on capping Russian oil prices

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a meeting with reporters that the G7 countries had not reached a final agreement on a possible price limit for Russian oil, Bloomberg reports.

“The decision to limit oil prices in the Russian Federation has not been finally approved, but the trend is good,” Bloomberg quotes him.

Sullivan dismissed claims that the initiative to cap Russian oil prices is meeting resistance among G7 members. According to him, “technical work” is still required to implement the proposal. Such an agreement should reduce the income of the Russian Federation from energy trade, according to Washington.

The summit of G7 leaders started on Monday, June 27, in the Bavarian castle of Elmau, Germany.
