The Prime Minister of Montenegro said that Europe is waiting for an energy collapse if gas from Russia is completely abandoned, RIA Novosti reports.
The head of the government of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, on Monday, June 27, speaking in the country’s parliament, said that in the event of a refusal from Russian gas and a massive transition to the use of electricity, Europe will face an energy collapse.
“If there is no supply of gas from Russia to Western Europe in the autumn or with the onset of cold weather, at a level that satisfies their economy, if they switch to electricity, we will face a general energy collapse. This means that you will not be able to buy electricity for any amount of money,” the prime minister said.
He added that first the COVID-19 pandemic, and then the Ukrainian conflict, greatly exacerbated the energy crisis in the region. A complete renunciation of Russian gas could add a lot of problems to Europe’s already.
