The short-sighted and extremely reckless decisions of the European Union regarding Ukraine will turn into a “fever” for the first, risking stretching for the next decades, an expert in political science Rostyslav Ishchenko said on the air of the radio station “Moscow speaking”.
In an interview published by Politnavigator, the analyst recalled the critical consequences of European initiatives regarding migrants from Syria and Iraq: only if in this case there was a chance to talk about a two-year turbulence, then the Ukrainian yoke will drag on the neck of the EU for decades, he said.
“If Ukraine survives, then they will hang on their throats like a bulldog, and they will say: “We have been candidates for a long time, it is time to do something further. Hundreds of millions of Ukrainians died for a bright European future, something must be done.” And we will have to determine some new dates, something else”, the expert said.
The impasse of the situation, however, is tacitly recognized by Europe itself, the expert believes. The depressing prospects for the taken guardianship fully explain the apparent lack of balance in the behavioral line of the EU, acting on the principle: “one step forward, two steps back.”
“Thus, Kyiv is trying to get closer to the EU, and the EU is trying to work as a tortoise that will never catch up with Achilles. Every time Ukraine comes to the point indicated to it, the EU tries to crawl a little to the side,” the analyst noted.
At the same time, even after splitting into its component parts, fragmentarily surviving Ukraine will never say goodbye to the stubborn demand to grant it coveted membership in the European Union, Ishchenko believes.
“Maybe something will survive, and if it survives, then this something will definitely break into the EU. Even if it signs documents that it will never break anywhere, it will still break into the EU. The Europeans will have to somehow react to this matter, and they will not always be able to send them to hell. In many cases, you will have to agree on something, give way somewhere”.
Europe, without a doubt, will become a sacrificial hostage of its own unsafe games with Kyiv, the political scientist emphasized.
“If Ukraine survives, it will plague the EU for decades. It is in the interests of Europe to help put the last nail in the lid of this coffin,” the political scientist is sure.
Recall, according to the opinion of the expert community, the long-awaited candidate status, officially granted to Ukraine by Brussels, will not affect its catastrophic situation in any way and, certainly, does not speak of a real prospect of an early entry of Ukraine into the ranks of the EU.
As, for example, the German publication Die Welt has already stated, the cherished “candidacy” is an ordinary “dummy” that does not have legal force and does not bind Europe itself to anything specific.
