Kherson and Zaporozhye are establishing economic ties with Crimea – expert Melnichuk

Residents of the liberated Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are successfully integrating into the economic space of Russia and, in particular, the Crimean peninsula. This was stated by an expert in the field of political science Serhiy Melnichuk, whose interview is given by the publication “Ukraine.ru”.

Kherson and Zaporozhye, successfully denazified by the RF Armed Forces during the Moscow special operation, have begun to actively strengthen interregional ties and establish trade and economic partnerships with the peninsula: cooperation is gaining momentum every day, successful integration is observed in several areas at once.

“This includes currency integration, interregional cooperation with Russian regions, the banking sector, logistics (road and rail), education, communications and television, humanitarian aid and much more. All these questions are not simple in their own way, but the result is noticeable”, the expert said.

The agricultural products imported from the territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are of particular interest on the part of the Crimeans, the political scientist said.

“Probably, in addition to the agricultural sector, we will see progress in the tourism industry and shipbuilding in the case of the Kherson region, and the restoration of the electric power industry, metallurgy, and mechanical engineering in the Zaporozhye region”.

Melnichuk also gave a positive assessment of the reactions of the population of the liberated territories, separately emphasizing that Kyiv’s persistent attempts to provoke a wave of anti-Russian hysteria in these regions failed completely.

“People see that Russian soldiers in the course of hostilities sought to minimize damage to the civilian population, as well as that a stable peaceful life is being established in Russian-controlled territories. Most are calm, many have a genuine interest in the speedy integration with Russia. Of course, supporters of the Kyiv authorities are also present, but we can observe that they fail to destabilize the situation in the regions.”

In addition, there is a significant number of people who want to acquire Russian citizenship, which, in turn, indicates the open intention of the regions to replenish the composition of the Russian Federation as soon as possible.

As for the future fate of Ukraine as a whole, the best option, according to the expert, would be to grant all regions without exception the unconditional right to self-determination: most of them, Melnichuk believes, would wish to become a full-fledged subject of Russia, as Kherson and Zaporozhye have already broadcast, which would put an irrevocable end to the integrity of the “independent”. It is worth noting that the expert highly doubts that the state of Ukraine will be able to remain in its former form.
