In the US Senate, a proposal was made to declare the Russian Federation a so-called “sponsor of terrorism.” The reason was the conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine, reports Bloomberg.
The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced its intention to recommend to the Secretary of State that the Russian Federation be declared a so-called sponsor of terrorism because of the special operation in Ukraine.
To pass the proposal of the committee, it is necessary to pass the relevant law by both houses of the US Congress, as well as its signing by President Joe Biden.
Senator Jim Risch, head of the committee, in putting forward the motion, said Russia’s actions make it a “hooligan” and a “state sponsor of terrorism.”
Cuba, Iran, Syria, and North Korea now have this status in the United States.
