Europe is returning to coal and preparing for a harsh winter, it is possible that Moscow will completely cut off gas supplies to European countries, writes the Greek edition of Proto Tema.
“In Europe, they are beginning to realize that after a period of economic pressure and sanctions on Moscow, which so far have not had a significant effect, Vladimir Putin is using energy mainly to “answer”, and it is possible that he will completely cut off gas supplies to European countries, perhaps in the coming weeks, with all the ensuing consequences, since energy independence from Moscow takes a long time,” the publication reports.
The return to coal is described as a temporary measure, as the European government assures that long-term climate change targets will not change with the use of clean energy sources. But at this stage, there is no certainty how long the “temporary solutions” will last.
