Germany fears Russia will cut off gas supplies

Financial Times: Germany fears that Russia will stop gas supplies while servicing Nord Stream-1.

The German authorities fear that the Russian Federation could allegedly take advantage of the repair work on the Nord Stream gas pipeline and completely stop gas supplies. This is reported by the Financial Times newspaper.

The material of the publication says that this will undermine the efforts of the Federal Republic of Germany to fill gas storage facilities in anticipation of the winter heating season. It is specified that at the moment gas storage facilities in Germany are 58 percent full. The German government wants stocks to reach 90 percent by November 1st. However, due to problems with Nord Stream, importers are forced to purchase the missing volumes on the spot market at higher prices.

In turn, the representative of the Ministry of Economy of Germany said that the government maintains “close contacts with gas traders who are preparing” for July 11.
