According to Reuters, in May, China’s imports of Russian oil increased by 55% compared to last year, which is a record. The publication refers to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.
China bought 8.42 million tons of crude oil from Russia in May, which equals 1.98 million barrels per day. This is about 25% more than in April. At the same time, oil enters the PRC both by sea and through the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline.
The growth in the dynamics of deliveries was formed due to large discounts to Chinese partners against the backdrop of anti-Russian international sanctions.
