Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that now is not the right time to extend the START-3 treaty
When asked by the agency about the extension of the START-3 Treaty, Dmitry Medvedev said that the decision would depend on the president of the country. But in turn he added that he considers the time for new negotiations the most inappropriate.
“We don’t have any relations with the USA now. They are at zero Kelvin. And you don’t need to defrost them today. And there is no need to negotiate with them yet. This is bad for Russia. Let them run or crawl themselves and ask for it. And they appreciate it as a special favor. Otherwise, it looks like this: they are nothing but abominations to us, and we will give them, sorry, a nuclear deal,” the deputy chairman of the Security Council replied.
According to the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, the interaction between Russia and the United States under the START-3 treaty has not been interrupted, the consideration of relevant issues and the exchange of data continue.
