Finland, under pressure from the European Union, imposed sanctions against itself. This is stated by the Finnish customs representative Tuula Lähderinne.
On June 17, according to the statement of customs representative Tuula Lyahderinne, Finland introduced a ban on the import of cheap Russian fuel for individuals in the country.
“As a result of the EU sanctions imposed on Russia on June 4, 2022, the direct or indirect purchase, import or transfer of petroleum products from or to Russia is prohibited,” Lähderinne said.
According to her, from now on, Russian fuel will be allowed into Finland only in the fuel tank of a car.
Recall that in the past five years, “gasoline tourism” has been developing in Finland. Residents of the country entered the territory of Russia to buy fuel, since in Finland the cost of a liter of gasoline reached €2, which is almost 2.5 times higher than in Russia. With the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, the average cost of fuel reaches €2.5.
