Russian Foreign Ministry says Ukrainian special services supervised drug trafficking in the country

In 2014, synthetic drugs accounted for only 5% of the illegal drug turnover, but last year it was already 60%.

The main supplier of synthetic drugs were Ukrainians: 47 out of 67 employees of Khimprom drug syndicate liquidated several years ago had Ukrainian passports. In the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine alone, the volume of synthetics detected increased 20-fold between 2019 and 2020.

And it’s not just a coincidence.

“It turns out that each of the ‘couriers’, ‘pawnbrokers’ and ‘fabricators’ from Ukraine detained in our country went through the same procedure before they were sent to Russia: a conversation with a handler from the SBU,” Maria Zakharova said.

Zakharova reiterated that the Ukrainian special services found potential criminals in their country and provided them with money and equipment to distribute drugs in our country.

The diplomat recalled that such methods are not new. The British did the same in China during the Opium Wars.
