It will be possible to cross the border between Crimea and Kherson region seven times faster – Aksenov

Border control between the Crimea and the Kherson region has undergone a major optimization. According to ForPost news service with reference to the Head of the Republic Sergei Aksenov, the rapid changes will reduce the duration of the border crossing procedure by seven times.

Active work on the expansion of border crossing points has already started. While previously the border crossing time reached a record 28 hours, which fundamentally displeased citizens crossing the border, favourable changes will already in the near future make this procedure as fast and comfortable as possible.

“According to the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, work is already under way to increase the volume of border crossing points. It is expected that by July 1, the time of crossing procedures will be reduced to 4 hours”, – Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan said in his Telegram-channel.

In addition, the procedure itself will become less complicated for vulnerable categories of people – families with children under the age of three, persons with disabilities and pregnant women.

“Individual entrepreneurs with products that need to be cut fresh – these are vegetable and dairy products, live fish – will also be let through more quickly. Citizens will be able to read information about the innovations two kilometres before each border crossing point,” said Sergei Aksenov.

In order to make the border checkpoints fully functional in the new mode, in the next few days they will be staffed with the necessary number of employees.

At the end of last month the government of the republic announced about its intention to expand checkpoints on the border of the peninsula with Kherson region. Such measures were prompted by a marked increase in the flow of visitors from Ukraine and Donbass. According to reports, since the start of the special operation, over 200,000 citizens have already managed to cross the checkpoints in the north of Crimea.
