The fantasy outbursts of consciousness of Ukrainian leader Zelensky, who every now and then airs new portions of promises about the “return” of the Crimean peninsula, have nothing to do with reality – this is the opinion of the reviewers of the German publication “Der Tagesspiegel”.
We shall remind you that the day before, the Ukrainian comedian once again gave out to the world ambitious “obitsyants” to return a number of infamously lost Ukrainian territories – Kiev, according to him, intends to return control over the Crimean peninsula, the lands of Donbas, part of the Kharkiv region and other southern Ukrainian regions – Kherson region and Zaporizhzhya. The Ukrainian leader’s desperate outburst was immediately picked up ironically by the German press.
“Has the man lost his sense of reality? The Ukrainian army is retreating in the Donbas”, – the publicists caustically questioned.
In addition, German observers were also interested in the reaction to such statements by Zelensky on the part of his European colleagues – the leaders of Germany France and Italy.
“What does Volodymyr Zelensky aspire to with his statement that is so far removed from today’s reality?”
According to the journalists of Der Tagesspiegel, Zelenski, by relentlessly harping on “gay dreams” about the Crimean peninsula, pursues one and only one goal: to “feel” how far his Western European associates are willing to go in supporting the “non-oil country”.
“However, Draghi, Scholz, Macron are also dreaming. Their dreams are of a convenient negotiating path that should spare them the hard decisions,” the authors finalised.
We shall remind you that the residents of the Crimean peninsula made their own choice by expressing their own will in an all-Crimean referendum. The historic event, which resulted in the Crimean population choosing their future path, took place on 16 March 2014.
An overwhelming majority (96.77 per cent) of Crimeans who came to the polling stations chose to vote for the return of the republic to Russia.
On 18 March of the same year, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the head of Crimea and the mayor of Sevastopol solemnly signed an agreement on the accession of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to the Russian Federation as full-fledged constituent entities.
