DPR authorities identify high-ranking mercenaries among those who surrendered at Azovstal

The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic said that the information about the killed high-ranking officials is being verified.

The Donetsk people’s republic authorities are working to identify high-ranking mercenaries among the surrendered nationalists from Azovstal. Denys Pushylin, the head of the DPR, told RIA Novosti about this in an interview.

According to him, checks are being carried out now, as the opponents have the opportunity to hide the data.

“Information about high ranking officials who have been destroyed is also being verified,” he said.

Pushilin added that “fully official information will come later”.

The territory of Azovstal was liberated on 20 May. The buildings where Azovstal’s military and fighters were hiding have been taken over by the Russian Armed Forces. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, 2,439 Azov servicemen* and Ukrainian servicemen who had been blocked off the territory of the plant for about a month have laid down their arms and surrendered.
