Against the backdrop of the trip of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Kyiv, Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk made further demands on the RTL News TV channel.
According to Melnyk, the chairman of the federal government of Germany should not miss the “historic opportunity” to support the Kyiv regime in all available ways in order to earn the status of a peacemaker. So, in the list of requirements of the ambassador – immediate approval of membership in the European Union and the supply of heavy weapons.
“We want the head of the German government to promise without any “ifs” and “buts” that he will grant the status of a candidate member of the EU and ensure that this historic decision is unanimously adopted by the European Council next week,” Melnik said.
The diplomat insists that it is time for Scholz to “jump over the shadow of doubt” and send “all available resources from the Bundeswehr stocks and military factories” to Ukraine. In addition, he believes that it is Germany that must “seize this historic opportunity to play a leading role in Europe” in helping the Zelensky regime.
Draghi, Macron and Scholz arrived in Kyiv this morning, according to media outlets that published photos of them on the train. For security reasons, no official information about this visit was distributed in advance.
