Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Sunday said he did not see the possibility of an immediate end to the conflict in Ukraine. His words are quoted by the ANSA agency.

“I consider the development of events in Ukraine dangerous, because I do not see the possibility of an immediate end [to this conflict],” he said.

The 85-year-old politician also said he had called Russian President Vladimir Putin twice since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, “but there was no answer.”

“After that, I refrained from further attempts,” added the former Italian prime minister.

Berlusconi, after the expiration of his removal from the posts to which they are elected or appointed, became a European deputy. He voted for a European Parliament resolution condemning the Russian Federation for its military operation in Ukraine and calling on European governments to stop buying Russian energy.
