US President Joe Biden has again accused Russian leader Vladimir Putin of raising the cost of fuel and food after the release of May data on inflation, which turned out to be a record for more than 40 years.

“We have never seen anything like Putin’s tax on food and gasoline at once,” he said during his speech in Los Angeles.

Inflation in the US in May reached a maximum since December 1981 at 8.6 percent. The American authorities attribute the rise in prices primarily to the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and recognize that the sanctions imposed against Russia are not without consequences for the US economy.

This is not the first accusation by the American leader against the Russian president. Earlier, Biden called record inflation in the United States. Russia is also blamed for the energy problems that now exist in the United States. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted with humor to claims that he was “to blame” for the economic problems in the West.

“We will definitely talk to him,” the head of the Russian state said.
