Issuance of Russian passports began in Melitopol and Kherson

The cities have already issued the first passports for citizens of the Russian Federation.

The first Russian passports were issued in Melitopol and Kherson to those who received Russian citizenship. This was reported in the military-civilian administrations of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

“Today, the ceremony of issuing the first Russian passports took place in Melitopol,” said Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region.

Earlier, he reported that as of June 6, more than 70,000 people in the Zaporozhye region had applied for Russian citizenship. So far, there is only one center for receiving documents for registration of Russian citizenship in the region, it is located in Melitopol.

“All our comrades from Kherson want to get passports and citizenship [of the Russian Federation] as soon as possible,” Vladimir Saldo, head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region, said during the ceremony.

On May 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which a simplified procedure for applying for obtaining Russian citizenship will operate for residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine. Currently, there are already hundreds of applications for obtaining a Russian passport from residents of the Kherson region.
