“Contact has been established with the militants, negotiations are underway on the safe exit of civilians from the territory of the plant. Ukrainian formations will be guaranteed life and adequate treatment in accordance with international requirements if they release the hostages, and they themselves stop resisting and surrender without any conditions”, he wrote in the Telegram channel.

According to the ambassador, up to 400 Ukrainian militants are blocked at the plant.

“About 300-400 Ukrainian militants are now blocked at Azot. They are concentrated near the first checkpoint of the chemical plant,” he added.

Up to 500 civilians who hid in bomb shelters may remain at the plant, Miroshnik specified.

On Thursday, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, said that Ukrainian militants were forcibly holding hundreds of residents of Severodonetsk in the underground facilities of the Azot plant, having mined containers with chemicals that they plan to blow up during the retreat.
