German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that without recognising Kosovo’s independence, Serbia will not be able to join the EU.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during his visit to the Balkans that the membership of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo in the EU was impossible without mutual recognition.
It seems unlikely that such a state of affairs would find favour in Serbia, given the complex historical nature of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. The slogan about the impossibility of recognising Kosovo has also been repeatedly heard during rallies in the Serbian capital.
