A referendum on accession to Russia in the Zaporozhye region will be held this year.
A referendum in the Zaporozhye region on joining the Russian Federation will be held this year. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region.
“A consolidated decision was made to start preparations for holding a referendum in the Zaporozhye region on joining Russia. The referendum will take place this year. The preparation will take several months. The wording of the questions of the upcoming referendum will be presented in the near future. The vast majority of the inhabitants of our region want to return to their native harbor as soon as possible and become part of the greater Russia,” said Rogov.
He stressed that the sooner the referendum is held, the better it will be for the region and its inhabitants.
“Only in a single all-Russian family will we be able to fully realize our potential: human, production, industrial, and natural. Russia is a country of opportunities,” added Rogov.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that decisions on holding referendums should not be made in the Kremlin. Peskov believes that people living in these regions should decide their own fates.
