The former head of the Bulgarian state-owned company specializing in the sale and purchase of weapons, said that Bulgaria had supplied Ukraine with arms worth $200 million. Weapons were exported through Poland.
In the amount of 200 million dollars, Bulgaria supplied weapons to Ukraine. This was reported to the media by Alexander Mikhailov, the former head of the Bulgarian state company for foreign trade in special goods Kintex (including weapons). He clarified that the package included rockets for the Grad rocket launchers, which form the basis of the Armed Forces rocket artillery fleet.
The former head of Kintex claims that the implementation of agreements to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army is carried out personally by Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov and Deputy Prime Minister Asen Vasilev. He also reports that the reason for the change in the management of VMZ-Sopot (Bulgarian state-owned enterprise for the production of ammunition, associated with Kintex) is that the management of the enterprise refused to repair the weapons brought from Ukraine. The fact is that, according to the agreement concluded with Kyiv, Bulgaria was obliged to ensure the repair of damaged Ukrainian equipment.
However, the fact of the deal, according to experts, was decided to be kept secret, as it contradicted the decision of the Bulgarian parliament. Due to the refusal of the management of VMZ-Sopot to participate in the repair of Ukrainian equipment contrary to the decision of the parliament, Alexander Mikhailov was dismissed from the post of head of Kintex. It is reported that the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office is now working with him.
