America is ready to allow more Iranian oil on the market without a nuclear deal

Washington may “turn a blind eye” to the increase in Iran’s share in the global energy market if talk of high gas prices dominates the midterm elections – head of the Asian division of Vitol Group Mike Muller.

The U.S. could allow more sanctioned Iranian oil onto world markets even without the renewal of the 2015 nuclear deal, Mike Muller, head of Vitol Group Asia, said in a podcast produced by Dubai-based Gulf Intelligence.

“Uncle Sam might just let that oil flow a little more,” Bloomberg quoted him as saying.

In his opinion, if in the medium term it is necessary to reduce gas prices in America in order to win the midterm elections, then the Biden administration will “turn a blind eye even more” to the entry into the market of Iranian energy resources subject to sanctions.

“U.S. intervention in these flows has always been rather sparse,” he added.

Mueller said countries had become skeptical about the possibility of a new nuclear deal between the negotiators as talks between Tehran and world powers stalled since March.
