The American Conservative: The US will not go to war for Ukraine.
The American Conservative’s founding editor Patrick J. Buchanan said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky needs to be told that the military interests of Washington and Kyiv are at odds.
“The independence, territorial integrity and democratic rule of Ukraine will never justify a war with Russia that could endanger the security of the United States and, if escalated, the very existence of our country,” he wrote.
The editor recalled that from the very beginning of the special military operation, the American authorities refused to send troops to Ukraine and establish a no-fly zone.
The article says that such decisions show the limited commitment of the United States towards Ukraine, as well as the unwillingness to take serious risks for its sake.
The journalist believes that in the future the split in the coalition that supports Ukraine will only increase.
