NATO exercises to take place in the Baltic Sea

The annual military exercises Baltops will be held in the Baltic Sea region from June 5 to 17, 16 states will participate in them, of which 14 are NATO countries, as well as their alliance partners Sweden and Finland, Report informs citing the Latvian media.

The United States, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Turkey will also take part in the exercises. The exercises will start in Stockholm, the military will conduct maneuvers in the waters of the Baltic Sea and the airspace of the region, and they will end in Germany.

More than 4 thousand soldiers, as well as amphibious assault forces, more than 60 aircraft and 40 ships of various classes are involved in the exercises. During the maneuvers, the military will work out the provision of collective defense in the Baltic region and the implementation of the deterrence policy.
