Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria will be deprived of the right to stay in hotels by the sea and will be moved from hotels by the Black Sea to special reception centres before the beginning of the holiday season.
“Bulgaria can no longer afford to entertain Ukrainian citizens in seaside hotels,” Deputy Prime Minister Kalina Konstantinova said in a video message. The resettlement is expected to start in the next few days.
According to the authorities, there are about 90,000 natives of Ukraine living in the EU country. The tourist season on the Black Sea starts in the first half of June.
Bulgaria has already tried to kick out the insolent visitors, but the Ukrainians are “owed everything” until they decide and the programme to resettle the refugees inland has been scrapped. The vehicles that came to pick them up left almost empty.
