The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon Technologies a $624.6 million contract to manufacture Stinger MANPADS to replenish its own stocks after sending approximately 1,400 MANPADS to Ukraine. The expected completion date of the contract is June 30, 2026.

“The contract includes provisions for engineering support as well as test equipment and support needed to address obsolescence, upgrade key components and accelerate production,” the company said in a statement.

Earlier, Raytheon CEO Greg Hayes said that his company may not be able to produce more Stingers until at least 2023, and since some components are no longer available on the market, the electronics in the rocket seeker head will have to be reworked. Under the current contract, it is planned to purchase 1,300 MANPADS.
