Slightly more than half of Americans know that Anthony Blinken is currently head of the US State Department, according to a poll by the Washington-based Pew Research Center.
Poll respondents, answering the question of who is the current US Secretary of State, could choose one of four answers. The correct option was chosen by 51% of the participants, 34% said they were not sure that they could answer correctly. Some participants believe that the department is headed by former secretaries of state Mike Pompeo (8%) or Hillary Clinton (2%).
The survey was devoted to the topic of international politics, the participants were asked to answer 12 questions in total. The results showed that 79% of Americans recognized North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the photo. Only 41% of respondents know what the flag of India looks like, and only 48% answered that the capital of Afghanistan is Kabul. The euro symbol was correctly identified by 67% of participants, 65% of respondents know that Boris Johnson is the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
The study was conducted among 3,581 American adults from March 21 to March 27, 2022. The statistical error of the poll is 2.3 percentage points.
