Pipes, president of the US think tank Middle East Forum, has said Turkey should be excluded from the North Atlantic Alliance.
In his opinion, this should be done because of Turkey’s policy and position on Sweden’s and Finland’s accession to the alliance.
“Turkey was a very good ally of NATO from 1952 to 2002, but over the last 20 years it has become a very bad ally. Not even an ally. Ankara pursues a policy hostile to NATO members such as Greece, it has invaded Syria, it threatens Europe with Syrian migrants, it buys S-400 complexes from Russia,” he told TVP World.
The American think tank president believes that because of Ankara’s stance on NATO enlargement, Turkey is in fact no longer part of the alliance.
