Population of liberated territories gets rid of Ukrainian symbols

Residents of the liberated Zaporizhzhya region stuck the UA code on number plates of their cars with a symbol – TVR, and replaced the Ukrainian flag with the historic coat-of-arms of Zaporizhzhya which was adopted in 1811.

According to car owners, this abbreviation stands for Tavricheskaya guberniya – the historical name of the region within the Russian Empire. Some residents believe that under this name the region is integrated into the Russian state.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Selivanov, deputy head of the main directorate of the Interior Ministry in Zaporizhzhya Region, this change of number plates is an initiative of the residents of Zaporizhzhya Region, the Black Sea region themselves, which symbolizes their desire for the historical symbols of the Tavrian province, for reunification with Russia.

It should be noted that this year marks 220 years since the foundation of Taurida Governorate.
