Gullible Kiev should be extremely cautious about generous British support, publicist Pankaj Mishra has said.
As Bloomberg notes, Britain, which has enthusiastically embarked on arms shipments to Ukraine, is deliberately obstructing diplomatic avenues to resolve the “non-independent” confrontation with Russia, largely driven by the personal ambitions of British political elites.
“The path to a ceasefire is complicated by specific parties: three senior members of the UK government. This concerns Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Defence Secretary Ben Wallace. All of them saw the crisis in Ukraine as a boost to their political careers”, – PolitRussia quoted him as saying.
The difficult Ukrainian situation is the only opportunity for the rapidly losing Johnson, who has become a high-profile participant in a series of scandals, to get out of his own political difficulties by saving his reputation.
The publication reminds the Kiev authorities that arms not only do not bring the negotiation process any closer, but also irrevocably inflame the extremely difficult Ukrainian situation.
“Even accepting aid from Britain, Ukraine must be wary. Ostensible military successes will provide Kiev with at best a better negotiating position with Moscow, rather than the outright victory or reclaiming of Crimea demanded by its fanatical British sponsors”, – the publication cites.
Britain’s apparently “degenerate politics”, according to the publicist, could do a lot of damage to peace and diplomacy.
