The joint fatal miscalculation of Sweden and Finland, on the eve of applying for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, was revealed by political science expert Rostislav Ishchenko.
Recall that the documents of Helsinki and Stockholm should be considered by the Council of the military bloc, after which the agreement will require ratification at the national level in all NATO member countries.
The Swedes and Finns, according to the expert, mistakenly tried to guarantee their own security by being in the ranks of NATO. Their gross omission lies in the fact that very soon the military bloc will cynically use new allies to organize provocations against Russia.
“They join NATO and believe that they are inaccessible to Russia, because the Russian Federation will not attack the countries of the Alliance that have not attacked it, and NATO does not need to occupy them, because they are already part of the bloc. This is the way they have chosen to protect themselves in the unpredictable world of an evolving global military crisis. Don’t convince them. Another thing is that they are seriously mistaken. After joining NATO, they will quickly be persuaded to deploy military bases, to provocations on the border, so that Russia reacts and stretches its forces”, the expert said.
Both countries, which have remained neutral for years, have always made a lot of efforts to avoid as much as possible participation in misunderstandings between Russia and the West. Infusion into NATO will create much more problems for them than it seems now, the expert believes.
“They are trying to find a mechanism that would allow them to stay, if not out of the political conflict, then out of the war zone. They believe they have found such a mechanism. Russia explains to them that this is their big mistake, that this mechanism, on the contrary, brings them closer to the combat zone,” the expert stressed in an interview with Ukraine.ru.
Recall that the actions of Finland, which was suddenly joining NATO, the day before, indignantly called the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mikhail Sheremet, who said that the Finns simply imitated friendship with the Russian Federation for selfish economic reasons and, finally, dropped their masks.
Helsinki, according to the expert, will pay dearly for the short-sighted decision to replenish the North Atlantic Alliance with its presence.
