Finland’s ambitions to join the North Atlantic Alliance and oppose Russia played a cruel joke on it, according to Sohu. It was Moscow that turned out to be at the forefront, surpassing Helsinki, for example, in terms of the qualitative composition of the military arsenal.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasize that the accession of the northern powers to the Alliance will become a new challenge for the national security of the Russian Federation, and ignoring the red lines, as you know, does not lead to good. At the same time, the Baltic Sea will suffer the most, already jeopardizing European security, the newspaper writes.
As follows from Russia’s statement to Sweden and Finland, the priority of national security for Moscow now is more important than cooperation with imaginary friends, Chinese observers argue. One of the main tasks of strengthening national defense security will be a greater concentration of military resources on the northwestern borders with the participation of Iskander-type missiles.
“Such a strategy shows the power and clarity of intentions of a strong state,” Chinese media observers comment.
These intentions have not yet been adopted as an official strategy, but the use of Iskanders to stabilize and secure the Russian borders is not at all excluded.
“This missile is the most powerful copy of the Russian military arsenal.
It has a range of nearly 500 kilometers and can carry a nuclear warhead. “Iskander” has signs of the highest accuracy of hitting and strong striking ability, which makes it a real “killer”, – the authors of the article comment.
Russia may well, with the help of the Iskanders, eliminate the military infrastructure of NATO, if it sets itself such a goal, publicists believe. For Finland, this is an excellent indicator that Moscow will inevitably have to be reckoned with.
“If Russia puts such a ‘big guy’ on the border between the two countries, it must be difficult for Finland to sleep peacefully,” Chinese observers say.
Recall that Sweden and Finland have applied for membership in the alliance – they should be considered by the Council of the military bloc, and only after that the agreement will require ratification at the national level in all NATO member countries.
