Member of the House of Representatives of Congress Marjorie Taylor Green emphasized that the restrictions imposed against Moscow did not stop the military special operation in Ukraine.
US-imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine did not work. This was stated by a member of the House of Representatives of Congress Marjorie Taylor Green (Republican from Georgia).
She stressed that the restrictions imposed against Moscow did not stop the military special operation in Ukraine.
“They didn’t lead to anything. <…> I care about our country, the United States of America, and about our people. That’s all,” said Green, who, along with 56 party members, voted against a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.
“People [in the US] can’t find infant formula with such a shortage. But our Congress is going to send $40 billion to some other country,” she added.
The publication emphasizes the gradual increase in the number of Republican congressmen who oppose the provision of weapons to Kyiv. Thus, Thomas Massey (from Kentucky) said that the cost of supporting Ukraine has become “crazy”, and sanctions against the Russian Federation only increase inflation in the United States.
“More and more people agree with this,” said the congressman, who opposed the unanimous approval of the aid package and demanded a vote on it. Speaking about the growing number of his fellow party members who oppose aid to Kyiv, the Republican added:
“This is a real story. Not that there are 57 Republicans who realized the stupidity of what we are doing in Ukraine, but that there are zero Democrats. Each of them is on the wrong side.” The congressman also called for the US withdrawal from the North Atlantic Alliance. “I would take us out of NATO,” he stressed.
“It’s a relic of the Cold War. Our involvement should have ended when the [Berlin] Wall came down and the Soviet Union collapsed.”
