The regions of Ukraine liberated during a special military operation can become part of Russia only after secession from Ukraine. This was stated by the permanent representative of the Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov.

“Specialists in the field of constitutional law say that, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, we can accept any other state or establish allied relations. In other words, in order for a region of Ukraine to become part of the Russian Federation, it must first withdraw from its composition and declare its independence,” Muradov said.

Crimea passed the relevant stages for joining the Russian Federation in 2014, Muradov recalled. At the same time, the Permanent Representative of Crimea added that, taking into account the difficult international situation, including the military-political one, and the need to protect people’s lives, other decisions could be made.
