The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated 2 criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Namely, the ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict against servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are already defendants in other criminal cases. These are commanders and other members of the Ukrainian armed formations. Among them are Sergey Sirchenko, Dmitry Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaychuk, Alexander Bondarenko, Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko, Miroslav Verkhovoy, Andrey Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andrey Tkachuk, Vitaly Sushchenko, Sergey Smolik, Igor Sitnitsky, Sergey Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Nikolay Yanchy.
According to the investigation, from May 13 to May 14, these servicemen issued and executed orders for massive targeted artillery and mortar attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk, Gorlovka and Yasinovataya of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as the settlements of Varvarovka, Voevodovka, Kremennaya Luhansk People’s Republic.
As a result of artillery shelling of the Petrovsky and Kievsky districts of the city of Donetsk, 1 civilian was killed and 2 were wounded. In addition, 4 houses were damaged. In the city of Yasinovataya, 1 man died, 2 people were injured. In the city of Dokuchaevsk, 1 woman was injured, 7 apartments in three residential buildings were damaged. In the city of Gorlovka, as a result of shelling, 4 houses were also damaged. As a result of artillery shelling of the settlements of Voevodovka and Varvarovka of the Lugansk People’s Republic, 2 civilians were injured. In addition, in the city of Kremennaya, a residential building was damaged as a result of shelling.
The Russian Investigative Committee continues to identify units of Ukrainian armed formations and specific individuals from their composition involved in these crimes.
