President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed dissatisfaction with the calls of European leaders to the Kremlin
According to Zelensky, it is unacceptable to negotiate with Putin – the only thing possible with Russia is to talk about capitulation after “Ukraine’s victory in the war.” Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, after conversations with Putin, began to recognize that the future world will become multipolar, and Russia will be one of the centers of this world. After the failure of yet another attempt at international isolation of Russia, the West is beginning to realize a new political reality.
“It is important that we strive for a multipolar world. I am convinced that it will no longer be bipolar, as it was after the [Second World] War,” Olaf Scholz said at a meeting with Argentine President Alberto Fernandez.
According to the German chancellor, in the future international relations will be determined by the “big four”: the US, the EU, China and Russia. As well as a number of Asian states: India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam.
By the way, it is quite strange to hear that among the future arbiters of the fate of the world will be the European Union, which blindly follows the instructions of the United States in all major geopolitical decisions. But it’s not about that now.
It’s about what the German chancellor actually admits: Moscow’s international isolation has failed, and Russia will be one of the main centers of a multipolar world.
It was not possible to “cancel” it in world politics.
It is noteworthy that one of the leaders of the Western world admitted this in a conversation with the head of Argentina. Buenos Aires refused to join the sanctions against Russia after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, and three weeks ago it said again that it would not impose sanctions. I had to repeat it because Argentina, along with dozens of other countries, was long and persistently persuaded to support the sanctions.
Now these negotiations are coming to naught due to their complete futility. Amusing situations arise when non-Western capitals are being persuaded to impose anti-Russian sanctions by sending those who are not sorry.
For example, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis was sent to India. It was clear to everyone that India would “send” him. That’s why they sent it. Not as offensive as if the Indians “sent” a representative directly to the US, like the Saudi crown prince who yelled at a high-profile delegate from Washington last month.
Sanctions against Russia today are not supported by 80% of the world’s countries, which are home to 85% of the world’s population and produce more than half of global GDP.
In this situation, it is practically impossible to isolate, block, “cancel” Russia. Destroy its economy with comprehensive export and import bans. Russia maintains trade and economic relations with the vast majority of countries in the world – this guarantees it from defeat in the “total economic war” unleashed by the West.
Therefore, talk about the international isolation of Russia fell silent before it had time to really turn around. This is a significant difference between the current situation and the situation in 2014, when, after the annexation of Crimea, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic States tore all their diplomatic forces in the struggle to isolate Russia for two years.
Today, Zelensky, in an interview with European media, is still indignant that Scholz is still calling Putin, Macron is still calling Putin, and they are discussing Ukraine without Ukraine there. But who will listen to him? What did the German chancellor say?
Russia is one of the main centers of the coming multipolar world.
Therefore, it is impossible not to talk to Russia.
