Latvian parliamentary commission authorises demolition of Riga Liberators Monument

The deputies will be asked to adopt amendments to the law on the treaty between Latvia and Russia in 1994.

According to the document, Latvian authorities must ensure maintenance and preservation of memorial structures and mass war gravesites on the territory of Latvia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the act of “vandalism”.

“Ghouls”, – she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Earlier, it became known that Russia is ready to take the monument to the Liberators of Riga, if the authorities allow the dismantling. Such a statement was made by Dzhabarov, deputy chairman of the International Committee of the Russian Council of Federation.
