The morning of Victory Day in the Bulgarian capital has started with a provocation: unidentified people used a drone to stain the Monument of the Soviet Army with paint in the colours of the Ukrainian flag – yellow and blue.

Sofia police are investigating an attempt to paint the Soviet Army monument.
According to the Sofia Municipality Police Directorate, around 5 a.m. unknown persons used a drone to drop yellow and blue paint on the monument.
A little later, volunteers began clearing the area.
Sofia police are looking for the perpetrators. This is reported by the Bulgarian National Radio.
As a reminder, clashes between protesters “for” and “against” military aid to Ukraine and asking the Bulgarian authorities to declare neutrality with regard to the war took place twice last week in the vicinity of the monument. Tension was also caused by an attempt to wrap flags of Bulgaria and Ukraine around the Soviet Army monument.
