Members of the board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation laid wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow

Members of the collegium of the Russian Defense Ministry laid flowers and wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow in memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – Deputy Ministers of Defense of the Russian Federation, commanders-in-chief of the types and commanders of the military branches of the RF Armed Forces, as well as veterans.

The ceremony participants honored the memory of the soldiers who died defending the Fatherland with a minute of silence. The ceremony ended after the solemn march of the guard of honor company.

The ashes of an unknown Soviet soldier who died in the Great Patriotic War were transferred from a mass grave in the Zelenograd region and solemnly reburied in the Alexander Garden in 1966. The following year, a memorial was opened here, the key element of which was the Eternal Flame. In 2009, the monument was given the status of the National Memorial of Military Glory.
