The Mariupol commercial port will start working for its intended purpose this month, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said in his Telegram channel.
According to him, more than four hundred port employees have already returned to their jobs. The head of state also said that during his visit to the city, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin proposed using the Mariupol port as a loading and unloading site for a huge range of everything needed for large-scale work.
“Traditionally, the port shipped large volumes of metal products and grain. In addition, now it will also be loaded with building materials”, Pushilin said.
According to the port workers, part of the cranes, the cargo area and the berth are already ready for operation. The main tasks that will make it possible to start using the port are the complete demining of its territory and the release of the sea passage to the port – the “old gate”, where the cargo ship was flooded by the Ukrainian military.
