Earlier, the senior command staff of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian troops, the brigade commander, Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Volodymyr Baranyuk, and the Chief of Staff, Colonel Dmitry Kormyankov, were captured after trying to leave the Azovmash plant, which is located northwest of Azovstal, they have already testified about the circumstances of their capture and their conduct of hostilities in Mariupol.

“One of the periods that we existed there was when Russian units entered the city. And there the crossing of the city was impossible. Then just, as far as I know, at that moment these helicopter flights began. Of course, we would like to have some kind of support. From one of as far as I know, from one of the helicopters, when we had a communication problem, we were handed over a satellite kit of some kind a satellite set, and Starlink was just handed over. It was one of the programs when we got something out of all this”, said Kormyankov.

At the end of February, Elon Musk announced that the Starlink satellite communications service is now operating in Ukraine.

According to Kormyankov, they communicated with their relatives using Starlink – because Starlink “just distributes the Internet”, and with the command – “via satellite.”
