‘Embarrassed the White House’: India snaps at US over friendship with Russia

India responded by categorically refusing to join the West’s anti-Russian economic war. On the contrary, it boosted energy supplies from Russia, incurring the displeased reproaches of the United States, which vociferously rejected Russian oil.

At the same time, Washington, after brief entreaties, traditionally moved on to its favorite methods of pressure and blackmail, reports PolitRussia, citing Sohu.

“US President Joe Biden’s administration has repeatedly pressured India, hoping New Delhi would join the Western camp. India did not seem to like it. To express its attitude, it refused to accept a Japanese transport plane that was heading to Ukraine with humanitarian aid”, – the paper wrote.

New Delhi, for its part, was not silent and pointed to Washington, wryly pointing out that the latter, despite the embargo, has also contrived to increase Russian oil imports.

“The Indian public has been speaking ill-spirited words to the US after discovering that the United States has been importing more crude oil from Russia than India itself. This reaction has embarrassed the White House”, – the publication said.

Still, the United States continues to press India in every way it can, forcing the country to give up Russian energy supplies, which, it should be noted, go to New Delhi at a substantial discount from Moscow.

“New Delhi is disgusted that the White House is putting various kinds of pressure on India to choose sides between the United States and Russia. Moscow has started exporting fuel at a discounted rate. India is a big buyer on the one hand to show its support for Russia and on the other to get cheap oil”, – Sohu reported.

Incidentally, India has not only refused to support anti-Russian economic sanctions, but moreover has continued to strengthen its strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.

In particular, the countries have begun to jointly develop a scheme of settlements in national currencies, designed to act as an alternative to the SWIFT platform.

In addition, Moscow and New Delhi continue to actively develop their strategic partnership and implement joint projects in the fields of energy, science, space and pharmaceuticals.
