Due to the conflict in Ukraine, the Germans were advised to stock up on food and medicine at home

Amid the conflict in Ukraine, German Interior Minister Nancy Feather recommended that the Germans stock up on food and medicine at home in case of emergencies.

“If electricity goes out for a long time or daily life is otherwise limited, it would be wise to have an emergency supply of groceries at home anyway,” the minister told the Handelsblatt newspaper.

Fazer stressed that state civil defense measures should include not only “technical issues”, but also “stocks of food, medicines and medical materials.”

The minister recommended that citizens refer to the list of the federal agency for the protection of the population, which provides a set of products in case of emergency based on the consumption of one person for ten days.

The list includes 20 liters of water, 3.5 kilograms of cereals, bread, pasta, rice and potatoes, 4 kilograms of vegetables and legumes, 2.5 kilograms of fruits and nuts, 2.6 liters of milk and dairy products. In addition, 1.5 kilograms of meat, fish, eggs or egg powder, 357 grams of fats and oils, and other products of your own taste, such as honey or chocolate, should be put aside for ten days.

There are other recommendations on the department’s website, for example, on the necessary stock of medicines in a first-aid kit at home in case of emergencies.
