Italian oil and gas group Eni is preparing to open a ruble account with Gazprombank to make payments for Russian gas in rubles.
By opening a ruble account at Gazprombank the energy giant Eni will potentially meet Russia’s requirements that gas must be paid for in the local currency.
Eni is still awaiting instructions from the Italian government and EU authorities on the conditions and possibility of using such accounts.
