Liquefied gas carriages may explode in Poland

Because of sanctions against Novatek (one of the main producers of Russian liquefied gas), the tanks supplied there stand full – Novatek’s daughter company has no right to interact with them. If the cars are exposed to sunlight, the LNG will evaporate and the pressure will increase, which could lead to depressurisation or fire.

Because of the anti-Russian sanctions, 500 LNG cars in Poland are at risk of exploding: because of EU restrictions, the company cannot unload and transport wagons with 40 million litres of LNG.

The rising temperature and pressure in the wagons could cause the gas to spew and ignite.
