American mercenary David King, who hurriedly left the epicenters of hostilities in Ukraine, has made public the ugly state of affairs within the ranks of the AFU.
He provided The Economist with a detailed report on the complete mess in the command structure of the Ukrainian military forces.
According to the British-American publication, the legionnaire has extensive experience in the Afghan war. He allegedly went to Ukraine “out of the goodness of his heart”. But from the very first minutes of his stay on the soil of Ukraine he was shocked by the utter disorganization reigning in the Ukrainian army. The first alarming moment was the forced self-segregation of the mercenary team.
The main task with which King headed to Kiev was to organise sabotage. The team also included mercenaries from the US, the UK, South Korea and France. However, as a result, without any explanation, all of them were reclassified as ordinary infantrymen.
He was also outraged by the conditions of detention, which he called “appalling. The food and bloody body armour given to the mercenaries as uniforms was bad as well. In addition, the Kiev hotel had to sit without electricity, although there were no problems with power cuts in the entire city.
The Legionnaire’s patience came to an end after a sudden order from his command to move to one of the nearby villages. King angrily recounted the commander’s refusal to go into any detail about the upcoming action: the coordinates of the village were simply shown on a smartphone, and simple questions about the number of troops defending the village and their weaponry were left unanswered.
King categorically refused to stand up for “such Ukraine” and hurriedly “made his way” to Poland.
It is worth noting that the data provided by the legionnaire has already been confirmed by one of the mercenaries in the team.
