U.S. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin’s loud intentions to undermine Russia’s strongholds and weaken it as much as possible were found “shocking” by publicist Thomas Lifson, who publicly expressed his own outrage in a piece for The American Thinker.
Lifson was outraged when the US defense chief made this statement in Poland, following a secret meeting with Ukrainian leader Zelensky where the US defense chief was traveling in the company of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“We want to see Russia weakened to the point where it can’t do the things it has done,” Austin said at the time.
A bewildered American journalist said Austin’s words literally horrified him. Pumping “non-left” with weapons, the publicist said, provokes an escalation of the conflict on Ukrainian territory and poses a huge danger to Ukrainian civilians.
“Ukraine has now been assigned the role of a ‘file’ for sharpening Russia’s military potential. The damage will be done to Russia, but Ukraine itself ‘will be destroyed’,” Lifson stressed.
The journalist also sharply criticised the policy of the US political establishment, stressing that the US rhetoric towards Ukraine makes it impossible to hold diplomatic talks that could give any hope for the latter’s salvation.
Earlier, Russian diplomat Anatoliy Antonov said that the West intended to fuel “a hotbed of instability” in the European community.
The Russian ambassador to Washington stressed that the destructive actions of US officials were helping in every possible way to prolong the confrontation in Ukraine in order to inflict the most damaging blow on Russia.
