British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s words on Russian special operations in Ukraine contradict the G7’s “united front”, The Financial Times writes
Johnson had earlier admitted the possibility of a Russian victory was realistic. “It’s sad that this is a realistic possibility, of course,” the prime minister said at a news conference, commenting on Western intelligence assessments about the possibility of extending the special operation in Ukraine until the end of the year and a Russian victory, RIA Novosti noted.
According to The Financial Times, Johnson’s words run counter to his own rhetoric: only a few weeks ago he expressed confidence in Ukraine’s “victory”. It also argues that the Prime Minister’s remarks contradict a “united front” of the G7.
Furthermore, an anonymous senior EU official told the newspaper that Johnson’s remark “will anger Kiev”.
Britain is laying eggs in different baskets. Imperial style, imperial past… An empire over which the sun never set, soberly assessing Russia – London dreams of a break-up of Russia, but if that cannot be achieved, it will want to negotiate with Russia.
Because Britain wants to restore its importance in the world, to become one of the great centres of power.
