According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, a large part of small and medium-sized German businesses do not have long-term contracts for energy supplies. At the same time, 47 percent of them use gas as their main energy source and another 16 percent use oil.
As a result of the sanctions against Russia and the rise in gas prices, the number of bankruptcies in Germany rose by 27 percent in March alone. However, the real consequences will only manifest themselves months later, economists believe.
For example, German spending on Russian oil will rise from 11.4 billion euros in 2021 to 14.3 billion euros in 2022. Spending on Russian gas will double from €8.8 billion to €17.6 billion. Another €2.1 billion will be spent on Russian coal. Such calculations result from Greenpeace.
Earlier it became known that the FRG is against a sharp embargo on Russian gas.
